In 2013, it was decided by the management that 700 sqm. of Aarhus Business College should be remodeled in order to provide optimal working conditions for students and teachers. The school had previously appeared dark and difficult to find around.
With a particular focus on making the school more welcoming, including by bringing in more and better light, Aart Arkitekter designed the conversion and pointed to DAMPA as the supplier of ceilings for all 700 sqm.
In addition to the architect's wishes, there were three key reasons for choosing DAMPA ceilings. The ceiling panels had to be demountable and practical to work with – both in the construction process and in the future operation, the ceiling had to fit with the future light fittings and you wanted long, straight lines to ensure a clean and uniform look.
In order to fulfill the school's and the architect's wish for better light, fittings from Fagerhult were purchased. Ole Bak, Consulting Engineer from Tri-Consult states:
"The appearance of the fixtures is very important in an entrance area and in a large hall, and we found a nice solution with lighting fixtures from Fagerhult that could be built into DAMPA's panels. We think we succeeded in creating a lighting solution that works and plays well with the whole out there.”
The panels installed are white DAMPA 300 Panels in aluminium. To meet the acoustic requirements, the panels are perforated and covered with black acoustic felt.
The rebuilding began in June 2013 and was completed in October, so it was a very efficient rebuilding process.
Construction manager Michael Jacobsen from Poul Nielsen, who measured the ceilings himself and sent the measurements to DAMPA's technical department, says:
"And then they delivered the ceilings with cutouts for the new fixtures. Everything was to the millimetre; there was not a finger to put on anything." and continues:
"The collaboration with DAMPA has worked perfectly. It was a major rebuild with many different professional groups and many craftsmen and suppliers and a very short time to carry out the work, so we were dependent on everything going well. That is why we were also picky about who we invited as partners. Fortunately, everything went as it should, and we were able to hand over a super nice school, only about a month and a half into the new semester.”
